Why did you donate to Pay It Forward MBA?
The primary reason that I decided to pursue an MBA was to be more impactful in my career and my life, which is also why I chose Texas McCombs. I knew that I would have the opportunity to learn and grow alongside a fantastically accomplished group of people with a wide array of diverse experiences, thoughts, and perspectives, and they would help me to realize this goal. Gbenoba Idah was one classmate and friend who inspired me, and all of those he met, with his positive attitude, thoughtful words, and inspiring actions. When he decided to start the Pay it Forward MBA Scholarship to financially assist a diverse array of students, I knew this was a great opportunity for me to start having an impact in a small but meaningful way. Diversity of thought and experience is more important than ever, and I am grateful and humbled to be able to contribute to the journey of future MBAs as they set out to change the world.
Can you tell us a favorite memory you had at the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business?
My favorite memory from my time at McCombs was undoubtedly when I spent my first spring break with a Global Connections group exploring business innovation in India. It was incredibly eye-opening and rewarding to be exposed to such a beautiful and distinctive culture, while also examining the similarities and differences in their approach to innovation and business in general. I felt that I learned more in my 10 days abroad seeing business in practice than I could learn in a much longer period in the classroom. We were also fortunate to explore some of their most celebrated cultural landmarks and partake in their Holi celebration, which was a truly special and unforgettable experience. Finally, I got to know some of my classmates better than I would've been able to just from our time together at school, which was an awesome benefit of traveling together to a new place.
